The Upward Spiral?

Over the course of a two-decade career (careen?) in TV, i have nearly always packed a small pocket notebook. They get filled, rather quickly, with a vast array of ingredients: random thoughts and observations; notes toward larger projects (uncompleted novels and short stories, tragically finished screenplays); cartoon ideas; song lyrics; poems about baseball; doodles; snippets of overheard conversation; and, since i've gotten married and welcomed two wild rabid stepsons into my life, some of their stuff, as well.

Six months ago I landed a perfect job for such a one as myself, in the "think tank" of a large TV production company. So it is my goal to sift through these archives of my rambling mind, to see if there is anything of value for my employers, as well as to rekindle and recharge the creative juices that always flow, in hopes of harnessing them more effectively.

In other words, it's a lot like "Julie & Julia," only instead of someone emulating a genius chef, it's a writer trying to reconstruct and re-connect with ephemeral ideas that would have floated away had they not been jotted by a borderline hoarder.

I will do so notebook by notebook, recording here by photo and transcription, any item that seems worthy of salvage. Beware, my standards are probably a lot lower than the World Champion of Caterpillar Limbo gets in the heat of battle.

With that, let's get on with the doodly show...
